A\nNEW INNOWOOD STUDY TRIP TO STYRIA<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wood industry enterprises, researchers and students took part in\na study trip on 17 and 18 April 2019 organized by PANFA Accredited Innovation\nCluster in the framework of the <\/strong>InnoWood ATHU059<\/a>  project.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Participants could\ntake a glance at the most innovative, most interesting wood industry business\nenterprises of the Styria region, their projects and research activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First they visited\nthe HIZ \/ ECW<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Wood Innovation Centre. They\ncould gather first-hand information and experiences about research and\ndevelopment in connection with wood industry robotics during presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants had\nthe chance to accompany the journey of wood from raw material input to the\nstoreroom of prepared products in the local plants of the wood industry giant Stora Enso<\/strong><\/a>. This was an excellent prologue to the following\nprogrammes of the study trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch the\ngroup visited the almost brand new manufacturing hall and showrooms of MESSNER Ges.m.b.H.<\/strong><\/a>. The modern painting complex was in the centre of\neverybody\u2019s interest.  The company is on innovative paths when it uses the\nlatest technologies while working on the interiors of yachts and cruise ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the next\nday<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

the window and\ndoor producing company, Gaulhofer<\/strong><\/a>, with 100 years of history and global\nmarket relations welcomed the group.  Besides wooden windows, the company\nproduces wood-aluminium and plastic doors and windows by combining various\ntechnologies. While wooden products are mainly handmade, in the case of other\nproducts the whole process is fully automated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second stop of\nthe day was a unique and innovative business enterprise. ThreeSixty Media Solution<\/strong><\/a> is a startup using modern VR\ntechnologies to develop assisting solutions. (Among others for wood industry\ncompanies.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch,\nparticipants looked at the practical demonstration of wood architectural\nresearch activities at Holzbauforschung\nGmbH<\/strong><\/a>. The opportunities offered by CLT\ntechnologies were especially emphasized. This is particularly important in Graz\nand its surroundings because the city started building a district of\nmulti-storey wooden houses using exclusively CLT technologies a couple of years\nago, providing accommodation for 10 000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This rich\nprogramme was closed by getting to know the Q7 construction site and project\narea (with its CLT and passive blocks of flats) as well as the ecological ideas\nto be implemented in the next decade of city development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
